Triangle Kush

Created accidentally by Marty Calabrese in the 1990’s, Triangle Kush (also known as Triangle OG or OG Triangle), has been a staple for years. Introduced to weed through his surfer friends as a teenager, Marty dealt and eventually grew his own plants at a very young age. Traveling to Amsterdam in 1989 with his fellow growers, he sourced seeds for their operation. They brought back the Hindu Kush.

One day in the grow room, Marty realized that one of his Hindu Kush plants had produced pollen. Despite removing the plant, at harvest time, Marty and his partner realized that the pollen had spread to all the plants in the room, including some Emerald Triangle females that were growing in the same space. To cut their losses, Marty and his partner sold as much of the seeded weed as they could. Little did he know that one of the bags he sold to a friend would, years later, give rise to Triangle Kush and OG Kush.

Runtz

Created by a group consisting of a breeder known only as Nick, rapper Young LB, and brand leader Ray Bama. Ray Bama dropped his first strain, Sandia, in collaboration with a breeder known as Cookie Monster in the early 2010s.

Ray Bama and Young LB officially dropped Runtz in 2017 at the Emerald Cup, reportedly selling 5 pounds of flower in under 10 minutes. Commercialized by Cookies, Runtz grew to become the brand’s best-selling strain in many markets. Besides the original Runtz, several other versions of this strain have come to market, including White Runtz, Black Runtz, Purple Runtz, Pink Runtz, and more. Some of these varieties were created by the original Runtz crew, while some were hunted down by other breeders.
